Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – The Council for World Mission (CWM) has announced its Diploma in Mission Studies 2025, a flagship programme aimed at equipping young people from member churches for ministry and mission. Since its inception in 1981, the Training in Mission (TIM) programme has brought together participants from around the world for 26 weeks of intensive mission training.
The 2025 programme will be conducted in partnership with Union Theological Seminary in the Philippines, the International University of the Caribbean in Jamaica, and the United Church of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands.
Among this year’s selected participants is 23-year-old Laura Harry from Papua New Guinea. Laura, who comes from the Central and Gulf provinces, recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Religious Studies from Divine Word University in Madang.
Laura is no stranger to ministry, having been raised in a pastoral family. Her father, Jacob Harry, currently serves as Bishop of the Urban Region in PNG, while her mother has been a strong support in their ministry journey.
“I was born into the ministry, grew up and nurtured in the ministry, and I found my gifting in singing and social services,” Laura shared. “I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of TIM 2025, and I look forward to unfolding what God has in store for me.”
In addition to her academic and spiritual pursuits, Laura enjoys singing, playing netball, and reading. She describes herself as energetic, outspoken, and people-oriented.
Reflecting on her selection, Laura added: “As a young person trying to navigate my life on my own, I am reminded that God’s ways are higher and better. I look forward to meeting other TIM colleagues and the friendship that awaits.”
CWM’s Training in Mission programme continues to serve as a platform for nurturing young leaders like Laura, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to mission and ministry within their communities and beyond.
